We are excited to be offering an opportunity for a student counsellor to join Demelza’s Family Support Department. The postholder will manage their own small caseload providing counselling for Demelza family members, from point of diagnosis to bereavement support.

We are looking for a compassionate, creative, and skilled individual to provide sessions around anticipatory grief and to those that are bereaved. There are a variety of interventions delivered by Family Support, both face to face and virtually, which includes Cafés, memory services and specialist craft groups.

This role will work with family members referred for counselling and will contribute to referral meetings related to this.

To be successful in this role you will be registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychology (BACP) or equivalent and working towards a level 4 or above recognised qualification. You will need to arrange your own clinical supervision. You will have experience of working in a health or social care setting and have the ability to demonstrate a flexible working style to accommodate individual difference according to age, culture and family context.

You must be able to commit to a placement on a part time basis between September 2024 and July 2025.
