Job summary
The Neurosurgery Department at NUH forms a key part of the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre. The Neuro Trauma Service offers a multi-disciplinary team approach to caring for patients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI). This comprehensive, personalised approach to Neuro Trauma patient care, allows for tailored care and rehabilitation plans targeted to the complexity of NeuroTrauma patients' needs. Traumatic Brain injury is the most common cause of death and disability in people under the age of 40 in the UK.
The Neurosurgery department is looking for a dynamic and experienced nurse / Allied Health Professional to join the Neurosurgical Trauma team in developing the expanding service for patients suffering from Neuro-Trauma and closely allied conditions. The post requires flexible working within the team to provide a high quality and responsive service. The post holder will work with the existing Lead NeuroTrauma CNS and Neurosurgical team to undertake clinical assessment and make recommendations in line with agreed standards of care. Effective communication skills will be essential to develop the role and assist in the effective co-ordination of the neurotrauma service including ward rounds, MDT's and both inpatient and outpatient reviews.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, diligent and highly motivated health care professional to join the Neurosurgical team in shaping the future of Neuro-Trauma provision at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Applicants must have experience in the management of neurosurgical conditions including the assessment and management of Neuro-Trauma patients.
The role will involve the delivery of an effective transition from inpatient to early discharge and rehabilitation, ensuring follow up and advice for ongoing care is provided. The post holder will be required to attend weekly Neuro-Trauma ward rounds, the Neuro-Trauma MDT and ensure timely follow-up and safety netting for recently discharged patients via telephone and face to face clinical assessments within the Neurosurgery Unit.
The post would be suitable for suitably experienced nurses or Allied Health Professionals. Applicants should be registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent.
