(Senior) Research Analyst - Retail & Home Appliances, China

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst specializing in the Retail and Home Appliance category to join the China Insights Team. This opportunity will offer you the chance to develop your own expertise and be the thought leader in the Retail and Home Appliance industry, with the opportunity to influence the world’s largest consumer brands and advertising agencies.

What you will be doing

Publishing in-depth insights combining market research and consumer insights: Work with Category Directors to write and publish 8 reports a year covering a variety of consumer markets that demonstrate Mintel’s expertise in related topics Gather primary and secondary data relevant to each market, and work with Category Directors to develop accurate market, company, and segmentation data Design consumer research that can produce meaningful data reflecting key consumer trends mostly indecently Build relationships with industry contacts to understand the key issues influencing consumers, innovation, and company strategy, identifying the most relevant issues to explore in consumer research Meet tight publication deadlines Representing Mintel and delivering client service Support Category Director to handle client service requests related to the subject field Support commercial team to proactively share Mintel’s insights with clients & prospects in data-pull or presentations Promote Mintel’s brand in the marketplace by supporting marketing and PR activities such as media interviews and webinars

Who we are looking for

Insights-led: You should have at least 3 years experience in industry or consumer research, marketing, or consulting role and proven expertise in a cross-category mindset, ideally accumulated from the industry/client side Observant: You have passion for, and knowledge of consumer markets (by passion we mean the sensitivity to what’s happening in the market through observation, and the patience to study deep into a subject) Naturally Curious: You are naturally curious and great at navigating internal and external data, asking second and third-level questions to see the patterns behind data to craft expert analysis to be used in a business setting Logical thinking: You are equipped with strong analytical skills, critical thinking, attention to detail A curious explorer: You enjoy going offsite to observe and understand new trends in the market, via exhibitions and store visits and obtaining good knowledge of updated marketing events and campaigns across different city tiers Business acumen: You are able to develop insights that have meaningful business implications Detailed Organizer: You have good organizational and planning skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Good Mandarin and English writing skills: You have solid business and formal Mandarin writing skills and have written long articles/essays or reports independently; you have mastered English as a working language and are able to communicate clearly via written and spoken English, and familiar with business English writing.
