Job summary
HCPC Registered Clinical Scientists specialising in Nuclear Medicine (including those who may wish to work flexibly) should apply for this post supporting Nuclear Medicine at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The person spec is for a band 8C but the successful applicant could be appointed anywhere from band 7 to band 8C dependent on qualifications and experience. If appointed toward the lower end, mentoring and educational opportunities will be encouraged & supported and may lead to further advancement. This is a great opportunity to further your knowledge and experience since we provide a very wide range of diagnostic nuclear medicine tests and are a licensed MHRA manufacturing site. In the friendly team of doctors pharmacists technicians and physicists multidisciplinary working is greatly encouraged. The department currently has 2 SPECT-CT gamma cameras.
The department is always working to provide new services that may benefit our patients, currently further development of the PET-CT service and therapies with additional radionuclides are being considered.
Bradford is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales national park, ideal for many outdoor pursuits including hill walking, caving, paragliding, fell running and wild swimming. Furthermore the Lake District is less than 2 hours drive away. Bradford itself has many cultural attractions - the Al Hambra theatre, concert halls and the National Science and Media Museum to name but three.

Qualifications
Essential
HCPC Clinical Scientist registration - specialising in radiation physics BSc (hons) in Physics or equivalent MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent experience. Registered clinical scientist, with further education and experience equivalent to PhD level. Highest level of expertise in own area. Radioactive Waste Adviser certificate Membership of a relevant professional body
Experience
Essential
Sufficient knowledge and experience to act as the appointed Radioactive Waste Adviser and successfully complete applications for permits for use and disposal of radioactive materials.
Skills
Essential
Able to present information in a formal setting before large groups of people. Capable of communicating empathetically highly complex information to patients, where there may be barriers to understanding. High level of sensory and motor skills / manual dexterity required for the safe manipulation of high levels of uncontained radioactivity and the measurement of equipment parameters with a high level of accuracy.
