Overview of Role

Rapiscan Systems seeks a highly accomplished professional to serve in the position of T ube assembly Technician role. This individual will be located at S alfords

Play a key role in the assembly and fabrication of large x-ray tubes. The role will primarily involve detailed component assembly and will largely be carried out in a carefully controlled clean room environment.

The technician will also facilitate day to day operation of the clean room and associated laboratory by ensuring essential consumables remain stocked, reporting of inventory movement and that best working practices are maintained.

Shift pattern is expected to alternate between early (06:00 to 14:00) and late (14:00 and 22:00).

Flexibility will be required to swap shifts to cover for holiday and sickness. During the initial phases of 3-months’ probation, it will be required to work on standard day (8:00 to 16:00).

Responsibilities

Assembly technician actively builds and tests a wide range of electro/mechanical sub-assemblies and systems HV/UHV vacuum experience. Brazing experience and working with copper pipes brazing is desirable. Experience of working within a clean room environment. Helium leak checking of vacuum systems/components. Assembly technician ensures that assemblies are built to controlled work instructions and drawings. Assembly technician is responsible for the assembly and test activities and may necessitate the use of specialist tools or test equipment as specified within Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions. Build records are compiled and completed during assembly and testing processes. When material or assembly quality problems are identified an NCR must be raised on SharePoint. Assembly technician is responsible for ensuring all equipment used, which requires calibration, is within the calibration period. Assembly staff is responsible for ensuring that all substances used which have a shelf life are within the expiry date stated. Assembly technician has a responsibility for the protection and safety of equipment, product, and colleagues. Attention to detail and working on concept of Right First time.
Qualifications

Experience of clean room working would be desirable but not essential. Experience in a manufacturing environment assembling complex systems. Diligent with good attention to detail with drive to complete tasks. Competence in mechanical handling and safe methods of working
