Deputy Superintendent

We are seeking a senior radiographer who wishes to work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital so that they are surrounded by people who put patients first and are also keen to invest in themselves and the organisation.

The post-holder will be a radiographer who is keen to be part of an imaging service with a difference. Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust's (CWHFT) imaging directorate is going through a period of transformational change where innovation is at the forefront of what we do.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the General Xray and IR Superintendents in providing the operational management and coordination both services at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for the assisting the superintendents with coordination of the Quality Standards for Imaging accreditation.

Operationally they will be responsible for assisting in continual improvement of Patient Experience and Quality of Care improvement projects, X-ray protocol updates, training staff and students in Generals and IR, department wide surveys and reviewing patient pathways.

The post holder must keep at the forefront of developments in Radiology, and be able to implement them in our practices and work flow.

Job responsibilities

Successful applicants will be expected to produce high quality imaging services to assist in diagnosis and treatment and will also be responsible for training and supervising junior staff and students. Our staff are our most important asset which want to ensure reach their full potential.

Responsibilities include;

To demonstrate perspective taking when dealing with patients, customers and fellow staff alike so that all views are understood and considered. To undertake all radiographic duties efficiently and to the highest quality standards. To ensure that all patients receive the best possible standard of care. To assist the Xray and IR Superintendents with the organisation of their respective departments. Work closely with the Physics and manufacturer teams to schedule QA and maintenance and work on protocol development. Commitment to ensuring own development. To be conversant with a broad range of imaging protocols. Ensure that Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R, IRR, etc. guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to. Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, acting as a role model through leading by example. Communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the service. Ensure that guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to. Ensure that all guidelines relating to staff and patient safety are adhered to whilst in the CT department. Ensure that the rules and procedures of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are strictly adhered to, and that all working areas are kept clean and safe. Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required. Proactively demonstrate interest in developing oneself professionally by proposing QI projects, collecting data and presenting at inter/national conferences. Participate in research studies conducted at CWHFT, including those as part of Imperial College. Report and record all equipment faults as well as be able to assist with the diagnosis and remedy of routine faults. To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role. Comply with, and be able to demonstrate and instruct, safe manual handling techniques. Comply with and be able to demonstrate safe infection control measures. Strive to achieve competencies required for a Band 7 deputy superintendent role. To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with rostering requirements to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust. Maintain a high level of commitment to, and take responsibility for continuing professional development (CPD). The post holder is encouraged by the department to attend both personal and professional development activities that assist in their role and the service. The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines. Education and Qualifications

Essential

BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR (R) or accepted international equivalent HCPC Registration

Desirable

Post graduate qualification in imaging MRI

Experience

Extensive x-ray experience across a range of modalities UK Work Experience NHS Work Experience

IV Cannulation- trained and competent Experience of teaching students and junior staff Exposure to specialist techniques Experience with writing protocols, policies and/or procedures Interventional Radiology experience
