Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunityto join our supportive and flexible Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service in Leicestershire on afull-time basis (part time considered).

As part of the community SLTteam you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and interest in arange of, primarily acquired, disorders and be involved in longer termrehabilitation for people following a stroke and / or other neurological / longterm conditions (eg Dementia, Parkinsons, MND) seeing patients in their ownhomes, remotely or in clinic (as appropriate to need) individually or in groups.

The post is based within the city of Leicester(although, as the service covers Leicester and Leicestershire, they may bepossibilities to work in other areas). We are committed to maintaining both the quality of input we provide and the responsiveness we offer to our patients.

Our Speech and Language TherapyService is county-wide with good links with our acute hospital colleagues andsupported by a dedicated administration team to provide a high-quality serviceto the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We have around 30clinical staff from Bands 4 to 8a. Our priority is on patient centred, holisticcare and we understand the importance of supporting staff to develop theirskills and interests.

Main duties of the job

Working independently with adults with a range of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, and their carers. To continue to develop your knowledge and skills which we prioritise through a commitment to CPD in both internal and external training with protected time for CPD / professional reflection / mandatory training. Your development is supported by your annual appraisal and regular clinical and managerial supervision. To work both independently and as part of a team, being part of regular team meetings and contributing to the excellent support network which underpins our Service. Working with clinical assistants as appropriate to enhance therapeutic input. You will also be supported by our dedicated admin team and IT support. To be involved with service / quality improvement projects / research to develop different ways of working to enhance the care we provide.

** This post could be offered as a developing band 5 / 6 role for experienced band 5's, with adult dysphagia experience, who need some time and support to achieve their band 6 competencies. **
