Following a review of the Health Boards Operational Structure, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior operational leader to join us as Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the role will be responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery and management of operational services across the integrated Health Board. The role will be crucial in establishing and leading our new Clinical Care Group Structure.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be an experienced senior operational manager that has an unwavering desire to do the very best for our patients, population and staff. You will have a track record of delivering improved quality and performance across a range of services, whilst achieving value for money. You will be highly skilled in building relationships internally and externally that support improvement and change at pace and scale. You will be comfortable in taking accountability and responsibility for performance standards and working as part of a senior leadership team. The role will be broad in scope and scale covering the full breadth of the operational delivery agenda. You will have the credibility to act as the Chief Operating Officer when required.

About usHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Person SpecificationQualifications and Knowledge- Evidence of continuous management and personal development
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of healthcare strategies, policies and current priorities.
- Extensive portfolio of experience of working at a senior level in a large, complex organisation.
- In-depth / extensive knowledge over a range of disciplines including general management, financial management, business planning, governance, clinical strategies and performance acquired through specialist training or equivalent experience over an extended period.
- Significant experience of planning, developing, influencing and implementing strategies together with a proven track record of strategic and operational management.
- Significant experience of using performance management processes.
- Track record of introducing service improvement, transformational change and redesign and delivering large complex projects.
- Significant experience of managing staff and working in partnership with Trade Unions/staff representatives, partner organisations and the public to introduce change.
- Experience of delivering objectives against challenging performance targets and supporting others to contribute to these goals.
