Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated experienced Radiographer with extensive post graduate experience in CT to join our very busy Radiology Team here at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This role is based at The Princess Royal Hospital (PRH), Telford.

The successful applicant must have a BSc (Hon) Diagnostic Radiography or DCR, current HCPC registration and extensive post graduate experience in Computed Tomography (CT) and team leadership.

Main duties of the job

To support in the operational management of the CT service working closely with and under the direct guidance of the Lead Superintendent Radiographer. This includes:

Sharing their in depth knowledge obtained from experience and post graduate training in all aspects of CT radiology department.

Understanding, implementation and supporting in the documentation to manage legislation related to the use of ionising radiation in CT (Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations 17 (IRMER 17) and Ionising Radiation Regulations 17 (IRR17))

To continually develop the CT service.

To oversee the training, development and maintaining of competence for the CT team, including undergraduate students.

To liaise closely with the Superintendent Radiographers, Advanced Practice team and Radiologists SaTH to develop and maintain an efficient cross site service for stakeholders.

To support in the facilitation of optimisation of patient pathways in conjunction with the Radiology Management team.

To actively participate in all clinical components of the roster

To consistently demonstrate leadership skills in line with the Trust Values

To support and deputise for the Lead Superintendent Radiographer

We boast a state of the art imaging department with a Philips Azurion Cath Lab installed in 2020. All of our general X-ray rooms are Philips C90 DXR supported by DXR mobile machines (installed 2020). This is in addition to a Philips Combi fluoroscopy/ DXR Room. Our CT service is provided by 2 Canon Azurion CT scanners installed in 2019 and 2021 and Siemens Aera MRI was installed in 2017.

In October 2023 we opened out Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Hollinswood House with Philips C90 DXR, Canon Azurion Prime CT scanner and Siemens Sola MRI scanner.

The department has an excellent on site teaching environment. The department is fully committed to role extension and has practicing Radiographers undertaking Ultrasound, Barium Swallows, CT Colonoscopy and plain film reporting.
