Job summary

Are you a qualified Speech & Language Therapist wanting to use your skills to support children, young people and their families?

The Children's Therapy Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified speech & language therapist to join our experienced and friendly West Lancs based locality team. Experience of working in paediatrics is desirable but we will are able to provide a supportive environment for newly qualified therapist.

Main duties of the job

We work with children and young people aged 0-19 with well-developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication needs. We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT Forums. The Children's Integrated Therapy Team has a strong network of Clinical and Professional leadership for Children's SLT.

About us

The team comprises of speech and language therapists physiotherapists and occupational therapists with both therapists and assistants. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children's own homes, nurseries and schools.

The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. An interest in working with children and their families is essential.

This is an exciting time to join our team as clinicians are involved in developing our innovative services. You will be based in the West Lancashire locality team but under exceptional circumstances may be required to provide occasional cover to the Central teams of Chorley and Preston.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification

Essential

Professional Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy Current Professional Registration with HCPC

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of clinical governance framework & implications for practice, including audit and research governance Knowledge of a range of therapy techniques and programmes Knowledge of research, evidence-based practice and current issues relating to client group Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools.

Experience

Essential

Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working Safeguarding of children/adults and implementation of policy and procedures with evidence of training/updates
