Design Engineer - Interior

FORSEVEN, a revolutionary company looking to transform the EV industry through cutting-edge technology and innovative engineering practices, are seeking an exceptional Design Engineer in Interiors to join our highly skills and dynamic Engineering team.  

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of one of our offices near Warwick or Bicester where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

The Opportunity:

You will have the chance to work on various projects from our programs. The Interiors design engineer will be expected to work with the Interiors engineering team, the Design team and cross functional teams. The role will be to develop interior trim components and systems along with the project engineers. You will be required to design the various parts that make up an interior, which could be plastic, metal, soft or hard trimmed.

You will require a good knowledge and understanding of structural bodies, load paths and joining for low to high volume production.

What you'll do:

  • Be able to create assembly drawings as well as detail drawings.
  • Have a good eye for detail and the ability to work at the highest level of engineering and take full responsibility for your output.
  • Continually seek improvement and keep up to date with new and future technologies.
  • Be able to solid model and surface to a high standard using Catia V5.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision to deliver on time your area of design and work with the senior and lead engineers to design lightweight and stiffest structures to targets that are set.
  • Have a good lateral thinking approach to problem solving and design.
  • Be fully trained in Geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.

Who you are:

  • The interiors design engineer must have a minimum of 2 years designing in the automotive industry. Other industries will be considered depending upon the applicant.
  • Have an engineering degree, automotive, aeronautical or HND level of education.
  • At least 2 years using Catia V5 and preferably 3DX and be able to create drawings to standards BS8888 and or ASME Y14.
  • Experience and knowledge of injection moulding, compression forming, back injection and trimming would be beneficial
  • Knowledge interior trim joining techniques and methodologies.
  • An understanding of materials and covering
  • Automotive experience essential.
  • A ‘can do' attitude and are always focused on achieving great results.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders & drive towards a common goal.
  • A calm multitasker who successfully managed, prioritise and executes against deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
