The busy Research and Innovation Department at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Research Governance Coordinator to join the research governance team. You will be a highly motivated and dynamic individual, experienced in clinical trials administration or equivalent research experience. The role will require you to provide a comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative service to facilitate the setting up of studies. This will include organising necessary approvals (Ethics, R&I, MHRA, research networks etc) and ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks.
You will support a portfolio of commercial and non-commercial studies across a number of trust specialities and review research applications, making judgments on whether research is compliant with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Working as part of a wider team of research professionals you will provide an on-going research advice and support service to Trust staff and external organisations.
Ideally you will be of graduate calibre and have recent experience of working within a clinical research environment. You should also have excellent communication skills in order to assist and guide researchers at all levels and be willing to take on new challenges.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the timely set-up of clinical trials at MTW, providing an effective assessment of trust capacity and capability, including ongoing trial management and monitoring of clinical trials for hosted and Trust sponsored trials. The role plays a key part in supporting the Research Governance Team to provide an efficient and effective research governance service to the organisation.
As a main point of contact for research governance enquiries, the post holder provides advice and expertise to researchers on all aspect of clinical research governance and other regulatory compliance relevant to research including: GCP, HRA, MHRA, REC and ethics, financial requirements, ARSAC and IRMER approvals. Practices such as collating study essential documentation, assessing, arranging and confirming capability and capacity for NHS studies, collating and recording amendments and fulfilling the requirements for study closure and archiving. You will take joint responsibility for the management of the governance inbox.
The post-holder will use the EDGE research database to accurately record and maintain research data and provide reports to the Research and Innovation team.

Experience of research governance and/or administration in the management of clinical research in an NHS, academic or commercial environment Experience of managing research projects through study set up and delivery Experience of using data management systems such as EDGE, NIHR ODP Knowledge and detailed understanding of national research priorities and developments Knowledge and practical application of the UK Clinical Trials Regulations, ICH Good Clinical Practice, UK Policy Framework and NHS ethics procedures
