Main duties of the job

The Blood Transfusion Training Manager will be responsible for providing support to Laboratory Blood Transfusion managers across all of NWLP's sites as designated. This includes responsibility with other senior colleagues for the training and selection of junior, basic grade and senior Biomedical Scientists within the Blood Sciences Departments. The training of junior medical personnel, the teaching of visitors attached to the laboratory and ensuring that the safety code is observed by all staff and visitors. Participation in NEQAS schemes will be the responsibility of the post holder, along with introduction and monitoring of new techniques. The monitoring of the progress of junior staff within the laboratory is an important aspect of the job; this involves both in-house training and also some supervision of work set by colleagues. The post holder will be expected to attend meetings and courses where appropriate, and will be encouraged to take an active part in outside events associated with Blood Transfusion.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
