Senior Development Technologist

(Sherburn In Elmett-LS25 6PL)

Position Overview:

Cranswick Gourmet Bacon are looking for an experienced Senior Development Technologist to join our NPD team at our site at Sherburn In Elmett.

Responsibilities:

To provide a site-based resource within the development department to own and manage NPD, EPD and VAVE (value adding, value engineered) projects for the Sherburn site for the customer base from initial ideation to process handover.

Develops up until process handover and ensures the products meet both the customer and Cranswick expectations, whilst satisfying all relevant technical and operational criteria, thus delivering a timely and faultless successful launch, supported by the relevant site functions.

To work with passion and pride at all times demonstrating this through results and in-depth knowledge of food and site processes.

While responsibilities are site based there will be the requirement for travel between sites and to customers Key Activities:

Quality

• Understands what a good job looks like (WAGJLL) for internal panels

• Independently assesses samples for internal panels and seeks sample sign off with NPD manager/controller before dispatch to customer

Value

Work towards site budget Good understanding of machinery and processes within the factory In depth awareness of sites product portfolio and competitor products Supports commercial by attending post launch reviews.

Innovation

• Supports their team and site assess product feasibility

• Responsible for the delivery of the strategic NPD agenda for their accounts

• Contributes and supports the delivery of site/retailer NPD plan

People

Responsible sharing clear project status updates for all projects through effective weekly communication Maintains regular contact with retailer developer and keeps up to date with customer and market changes Ensures projects are kept on track, objectives delivered and ensures a good working relationship is sustained.

General

• Demonstrate good housekeeping practices and due diligence at all times

• Works to Cranswick core values

• Other duties as required to support the success of the department and business overall.

Skills & Experience Required:

• A strong development knowledge ideally provided from experience (min 2 years) from chilled/within a similar field

• Experience with retailer NPD processes.

• Demonstrates good customer service, both internally and externally

• Must be in possession of a full valid driving licence

• Computer literate

• Commercially minded

• Awareness of factory equipment and processes

• Strong team player and is known for working for the good of the team

• Knows how to get the best out of individuals

• Demonstrates passion in all that they do

• Ability to create a favourable first impression, project yourself well and present with confidence

• Able to enjoy working within a fast-moving environment with change and high expectations

• Demonstrate a genuine interest and understanding of food

• A proven track record of project management, with good communication skills & well organised

• Comfortable working in an office, factory or kitchen environment.

• Must be comfortable working and being hands on both in the factory and office environment

• Flexible, detail conscious and self-starter

• Problem solving mindset

• Group and site induction.

• Level 2 H&S awareness.

• Understanding of relevant risk assessments and trained as competent to safe working procedures.

• Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting.

Hours of work - Monday- Friday 09.00 am – 17.00 pm (however flexibility around core working hours is essential)
