We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Cover Teacher to join our team, providing high quality support and teaching for children with special educational needs. As a SEN cover teacher, you will work across various classes, supporting students with diverse needs, including ADHD, autism, learning disabilities and emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will deliver pre-planned lessons and offer 1:1 or small group support, ensuring every child receives a personalised and enriching educational experience.


 

Based on a stunning campus surrounded by beautiful woodland and the seaside, our school caters for students with autism and complex needs from 3 - 19 years. Therefore, there are opportunities to work across primary, secondary and post-16 levels. With an adapted curriculum, no two days are the same. They have fantastic provisions such as a forest school, woodland walk, bike trail, swimming pool and much more If you are an outgoing person who loves the outdoors, this is certainly a place you will love to work 


 

Key responsibilities:


 

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to students with SEN in the absence of the classroom teacher
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCO’s and other staff to provide targeted support 
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and staff
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and procedures


 

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support a diverse range of needs. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within a team. Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people is essential. You will have Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools, Level 4 Diploma in Childcare and Education, or other relevant qualifications in nursery work or childcare. Qualified Teacher Status is preferable but not essential.
