This is a permanent post for a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with an interest in robotic surgery. The successful applicant will join a forward-thinking Surgery Department with a wide range of sub specialist interest and skills. The post holder will undertake outpatient clinics and elective surgery and participate in the emergency on call rota (currently 1:10).

Job responsibilities

The post holder will undertake outpatient clinics and elective surgery and participate in the emergency on call rota (currently 1:10).

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Full and Specialist registration (with a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent

Desirable

Higher degree/qualification. MD/MS/Phd

Training & Experience

Essential

Successful completion of a CCT training programme or equivalent. At least 12 months training in Colorectal surgery at a senior specialist registrar level. Experience in wide variety of emergency surgery work undertaken in a district general setting. Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months.

Desirable

Fellowship in Robotic Surgery Interest in Advanced Laparoscopy and Robotic surgery

Management & Administration

Essential

Knowledge of the structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance, and Appraisal

Desirable

Experience in leading innovations / development of pathways
