Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Trust Doctor - Locum Appointment for Service (LAS) to work at Core Training level across two sites. Co-located, Dan Mooney House / David Bromley House are both 15 bedded male/female complex care units and Hertford House is an intensive rehabilitation unit, both within the area of Solihull. The Trust Doctor will be required to travel between the sites.
The appointee will require full GMC registration with a licence to practice and awareness of the GMC' Good Medical Practice. The ability to be able to plan and prioritise own workload to ensure a high standard of clinical practice is essential.
Main duties of the job
The clinical work will consist of the assessment and treatment of patients referred to the team that the doctor will be attached to. The post holder will be required to clerk in new patients, taking a full history, mental state examination and medication prescribing. They will also be involved in producing timely discharge summaries, physical examination, and day to day management of in-patients and day patients. The appointee will need to be prepared to respond to urgent clinical needs across sites as required.

The Trust Doctor is expected to participate fully in the Teaching Programme within the Trust, which is on Wednesday mornings and will be given every opportunity to increase their experience within their area of interest. There are also regular clinical and management supervision along with teaching sessions in the clinical situation by Consultant staff.

Recognised medical degree Full GMC registration with a licence to practice Exposure to various aspects of psychiatry, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Exposure to risk assessment and crisis care The applicant must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the major principles of the GMC's Good Medical Practice including: o Good clinical care o Maintaining good medical practice o Teaching and training, appraising and assessing o Relationships with patients, and can apply this understanding o Working with colleagues, and can apply this understanding o Probity Health Ability to develop & maintain high standards of communication both orally and in writing with people about difficult matters and in difficult situations.
