An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a talented and dedicated Design and Technology (DT) Technician to join an outstanding secondary school in Reading. This position is available from September 2024 and offers a permanent role within a thriving educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain equipment, tools, and materials for DT classes, ensuring all resources are safe, organized, and available for use.
- Support teachers in the delivery of practical lessons, assisting with demonstrations and providing technical advice.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory and order supplies, keeping accurate records of stock and budgetary expenditures.
- Provide guidance to students on the correct use of equipment and safety procedures.
- Contribute to the development of new projects and initiatives within the DT department.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a similar technical support role.
- A strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to workshop environments.
- Proficiency in using a range of DT equipment and tools, including CAD software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in Design and Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of the latest developments in DT education and technology.
