Job summary
A rare and exciting development opportunity has arisen for an individual to work within the Haematology Inpatient Unit for a 6 month period.
We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Ward Sister / Charge Nurse for a 12 bedded specialist haematology and chemotherapy inpatient Ward. The post holder will need specialist knowledge in regards to haematological malignancies and ideally be competent in chemotherapy administration and able to initiate any emergency treatments as necessary.
Main duties of the job
As Band 6 ward sister / charge nurse on the Haematology Inpatient ward you will need to have an understanding of complex haematological conditions, possess excellent communication skills and have an understanding of both local and national guidance relevant to the speciality, including an awareness and exposure to research.
Within this role, the successful applicant will demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and communication skills and will be responsible for supporting the unit manager with the co-ordination of the service.
He/she must be an experienced Haemato-Oncology Nurse who is proficient in all aspects of chemotherapy administration and patient education. They must possess an expert level of knowledge and skills in all areas of IV administration and be expert in Cannulation and Venepuncture
