We are looking for a part time specialist midwife in Preterm Birth, this position is for 15 hours per week.To support the maternity service and birthing people in recognising those at greater risk of preterm birth and providing extra support and monitoring in pregnancy that aims to recognise, reduce when possible and support the birthing people and their families experiencing preterm birth.Location: Poole HospitalProposed Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job This specialist role is designed to support the needs of pregnant women who are at high risk of premature birth. To enhance the provision of specialist evidence-based care for women and provide continuity of care.The post holder will be the lead midwifery practitioner responsible for working with the consultant obstetric leads within the preterm birth service. The preterm midwife will be responsible for triaging referrals, being a focal point of contact, liaising with the women and leading on quality improvement and audit. Detailed job description and main responsibilities A key part of the role is to liaise with the clinical leads and teams in the Wessex area to reduce variation and improve outcomes for women and babies at risk of preterm birth. You will also act as a mentor and participate as a core member of the preterm birth network.The post holder will be required to support women and their families within their pregnancy and will be required to provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to midwives and support workers in the maternity units with regards to preterm birth and work closely with the obstetrician and neonatologist for preterm birth. Will also provide a full range of midwifery care, including health education, social care and advice to women with the maternity service throughout the geographical area. Your sphere of practice encompasses provision of care to the women and babies during antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. The midwife will act as an assessor for students and support other members of staff. The midwife will work autonomously within the trust in line with departmental guidelines and in accordance with the NMC Standards of proficiency for midwives, always ensuring safe and individualised care.
