We’re looking for a Deputy FM Manager to join our fantastic team at HMP Fosse Way, a brand new Category C resettlement prison in Leicester with the capacity to house around 1, prisoners.

You will join our FM Team and take overall responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of planned maintenance work (statutory and contractual), reactive repairs and local projects. Working alongside an existing Senior Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for first line management of a team of Engineers and Staff, with a variety of skills. You will be required to report to and deputise for the on-site Facilities Manager and manage relationships with operational colleagues at all levels.

As well as ensuring that the team’s training is up to date, site health & safety procedures are followed and that Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to, the successful candidate will be expected to manage Contractors, ensure remedial work tasks are completed on time following maintenance, and react to whatever new challenge the day brings.

Ideally candidates should hold a qualification with City & Guilds equivalent mechanical qualification Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning Systems, knowledge of BMS (Honeywell, Trend would be an advantage).

What you’ll need to do the role  

First and foremost, you will have proven strong supervisory/management experience of providing first line leadership. Ideally you will hold an Engineering qualification or experience, knowledge of relevant systems within a similar environment and be fully conversant with statutory requirements.

This is an extremely busy demanding role and will include further accountabilities detailed below:

Assist in the development of maintenance plans that ensure that the establishment is safe and compliant. Plan and programme maintenance activities according to the programme held in the CAFM system and prioritise work in a hierarchy of safety, compliance, and contractual needs. Allocate work according to staff on a daily basis. Track, monitor and manage the progress of work and the productivity of staff. Provide appropriate challenge and assurance to ensure that work is delivered to the highest standards and within timescales. Deputise for the Facilities Manager in their absence in dealing with staff management and development. Monitor spend and financial commitments in line with policy and guidance, produce spend data as and where required.

Additional Requirements

To manage and monitor the Facilities “Out of Hours” call out roster. Deputise for the FM Manager at meetings and other absences.
