Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor with specialist interest in Children in Care. We are looking for a doctor who is passionate about providing holistic care for these vulnerable children in partnership with social care services.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly innovative integrated neurodevelopment and disability service. We have full electronic health records and operate a paperless system. A programme of transformation is underway to make our community paediatric services state of the art.

We have a strong multidisciplinary team for complex health needs (Community Paediatrics, looked after children nursing, therapy services, paediatric psychology, community children's nursing, neurodisability specialist nursing, specialist family support and Dietetics). We are part of an integrated neurodevelopmental service with CAMHS that is recognised as a model of best practice nationally.

CPFT is a member of Cambridge University Health Partners and as such provides excellent teaching and research opportunities in partnership with the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University. We can offer the possibility of clinical lecturer roles with the universities. We host Core and Higher Specialty Grid Trainees.

Peterborough has excellent road and rail links with London (50 minutes to King's Cross) and the North. The area is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has several excellent state and private schools.

Main duties of the job

This is a 10 Programmed Activity post. The post holder will provide medical input to the North integrated community paediatric and CAMH Team. Clinical duties will be to split between the Core Community Paediatrics, Safeguarding and Looked After Children. Together with consultant colleagues, there is a general commitment to ensure medical cover is available as needed across the Community paediatric services.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Main Duties

This is a 10 Programmed Activity post. The post holder will provide medical input to the North integrated community paediatric and CAMH Team. Clinical duties will be to split between the Core Community Paediatrics, Safeguarding and Looked After Children. Together with consultant colleagues, there is a general commitment to ensure medical cover is available as needed across the Community paediatric services. The applicant will have responsibility for providing clinical care for North team area, principally Looked After Children, school-age autism / ADHD, and safeguarding. Programmed Activities (or pro-rata) are allocated for CPD, audit, clinical governance, training and teaching, research, management, as agreed in your specific job plan. ( for core activities to support revalidation / CESR and PA for specific lead roles) To participate in supervision, teaching and work-place based assessment of doctors in training. To contribute to the training and CPD of multi-disciplinary colleagues. To contribute to the training of medical students attached to the department. To assist with the ongoing development of Childrens Services operated by CPFT with, other multi-disciplinary team colleagues, the Service Managers and in line with the Trusts strategic direction. To participate in the administrative duties associated with patient care and the running of the department, including the collection of routine data and outcome monitoring as specified by the Division management team. To collaborate with medical colleagues to maintain the service in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave, study leave and short-term sickness. To contribute to Clinical Governance and related activities together with Consultant colleagues. Study leave is as per Whitley Council Terms and Conditions of Service. However, the budget per doctor, per annum, is limited to £600 at present. The job plan is subject to review annually by the doctor, Clinical Director and Service Manager. Education and Qualifications

Essential

Medical qualification MBBS or equivalent Eligibility for GMC Registration plus a licence to practice.

Higher Qualification like MSc in Neurodisbaility MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent

Experience

2 years' experience in general paediatrics Experience of multi-disciplinary working
