The Role
The primary role & responsibility of the ICT Database Manager is to maintain the Special Operations Human Resource Management Tool on behalf of the SOCOMD People Capability Manager. 

The duties include: 

Manage database configuration including installing and upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation.  Contribute to the setting of standards for database objects and ensuring conformance to these standards.  Apply data modelling, business analysis and SQL programming skills to create the correct scalability, functions and features of databases including data redundancy. Understand and use object model design concepts, particularly in relation to designing data structures, query SQL and reports.  Build and sustain effective working relationship with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.  Facilitate appropriate direction for the team by clearly communicating goals and objectives.  Evaluate and optimise database performance and processes for compliance with Defence policy and procedures.  Design and implement solutions to issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.  Accountable to construct and follow project plans that have clear and appropriate milestones, goals, timeframes and budgets.  Understand data modelling and contribute to the development of conceptual data models.
About our Team
Special Operations Command provides an opportunity for motivated people to join an integrated team of APS, Military and Contracting staff. This diverse workforce uses Defence’s policies, procedures and resources to support the implementation and management of a new personnel and trade management system employed unilaterally by Special Operations Command. 

This role will contribute to the Command’s people program and ensure it delivers capability through its personnel. It ensures Special Operations personnel are managed and remunerated appropriately given the important capabilities they deliver to Defence and Government. 

This role will ensure that systems design to support Special Operations Forces personnel have the connectivity with adjacent systems and a user interface remains current for a technologically focussed workforce.
