Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for 2 HealthcareAssistants to join the Inpatient Unit team at Bury Hospice, working 30 hoursover 7 days with internal rotation onto nights. You will play a vital rolewithin a team dedicated to delivering outstanding care to our patients and ourfamilies.
Main duties of the job
To assist and support the nursing and multi-disciplinary teams in the holistic delivery of palliative care.Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and their families/ carers.

Job responsibilities
Toassist in the delivery of the planned, individualised holistic care of patientsand support of their families/carers. Toensure that the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs remainparamount at all times Toestablish and maintain communication with people on routine/ operationalmatters. Tomaintain health, safety and security of self and others within the hospiceenvironment. Todevelop own skills and knowledge (theoretical, practical, procedural). Tosupport the maintenance and development of services. Torecord data accurately using the agreed systems. Toassist in providing a welcoming. Friendly and professional environment whererelatives may participate appropriately as partners within the caring team. Toassist in the maintenance of harmonious working relationships within the wardteamAssistingmembers of the nursing team in providing the highest standard of physical,social and spiritual care for patients, their relatives and friends.
Toaccurately record information within agreed guidelines and pass it to therelevant people in the team in a timely manner. Torecognise changes in the patients needs and report these to a qualified nurse. Tosupport families/ carers, making certain that all information is shared withthe nursing team in order to promote holistic care. Toensure that all care/ support given is reported and documented, at the earliestopportunity, within the agreed systems. Toobtain consent from patient/ carer before commencing any care related task. Torespect the individuals privacy, dignity and beliefs. Towork within well established procedures and/or practices with supervision closeby.Toundertake delegated tasks and activities (within agreed protocols).
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
Healthcare experience in a Hospice, Hospital or Community setting.
Desirable
Recent relevant experience in a hospice. An understanding of specialist palliative care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Essential
Effective communication skills. Good organisational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Able to write concise, legible and accurate nursing notes. Ability to plan and manage own time and tasks. Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines. Basic IT skills and able to access the internet and use e-mail. Evidence of team or group working. Manual dexterity. Numeracy skills. Efficient, resourceful and flexible. Diplomatic, and logical approach. Professional attitude, responsive and adaptable approach. Commitment to quality and professional standards. Non-judgemental attitude. Required to work flexibly as per nursing rota/internal rotation to night duty. Attend training/ events as required. Appointments require Appropriate DBS clearance.
