Job summary

We are looking for a Lead Psychologist to join our newlyforming interdisciplinary chronic pain team based in Brent. We are looking foran experienced psychologist with a passion for working in the field of chronicpain management, experience of managing caseloads within a physical healthsetting and leading a team.

You will providespecialist psychological assessments and formulations, and deliver individual and group interventions as part ofour interdisciplinary community-based chronic pain service, working alongsidenurses, doctors, and physiotherapists.

You will have excellent communication andrelationship skills and be resilient in responding to sometimes hostile,antagonistic or highly emotive situations. You will develop and fosterconducive relationships with local and national clinical stakeholders includingIAPT services, GPs, secondary care and other clinically importantcontacts.

Main duties of the job

You will have line management responsibilities including but not limited to clinical supervision, providing Psycholotherapeutic advice and guidance and assisting with the analysis of statistical data for research and audit purposes. Offer staff training, running reflective practice and team formulations.

You will use your knowledge, experience and skills to provide advice and consultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other health professionals and to advance knowledge and practice of psychological theories and principles.

You will have a British Psychological Society Accredited post-graduate doctoral degree in an applied field of psychology (clinical, health or counselling) and will be registered with The Health & Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

British Psychological Society Accredited post-graduate doctoral degree in an applied field of psychology Registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS or HCPC.

Desirable

Post-doctoral training in a psychological theory/model that is applicable to the area of chronic pain ACT

Experience

Essential

Substantial experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment within a physical health setting, providing individual and group interventions Possesses highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience of clinical health psychology models / psychological aspects of chronic illness

Desirable

Knowledge of chronic/ persistent pain. High level knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological approaches for specific problems (, traumatic reactions, bereavement, adherence difficulties)
