Job summary

A highly rewardingopportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistantsto join our older adult inpatient mental health team at Woodland Ward, based atNew Haven in Bromsgrove

Woodland Ward providesspecialist assessment and treatment for older adults experiencing mental healthdifficulties so experience of supporting people with mental health difficultiesis important. Experience working as anOTA is not essential as full training and on-going support will be provided,however, we are seeking someone with a passion for supporting mental healthrecovery. The successful candidate will receive training and to be able tosupport a range of assessments and 1:1 and group interventions

Kindness, empathy, reliability,and dependability are important key qualities required for this post along witha commitment to provide excellent care.Good written and verbal communication skills are essential Thisfull-time, hr week post incorporates weekdays and weekends

Main duties of the job

Training and on-going supportwill be provided. Under the directionand supervision of the Occupational Therapist the OTA will be required tosupport OT assessments and 1:1 and group interventions to support mental healthrecovery and wellbeing. Additionally,the OTA may be asked to support the OT or other member of the MDT infacilitating patient/carer groups and other quality improvementinitiatives.

The OTA will need to complete dailyclinical note entries (online) and as required by the OT to contribute tocompletion of daily/weekly audits (, checking equipment) and contribute topatient care plans, attending MDT meetings, supporting OT/PT students onplacement. This role incorporates homevisits and community access therefore a car driver with use of a car each workingday is essential.

Level 3 qualification ( A-level, NVQ3) in Care or Level 2 qualification ( GCSE Grade A-C or Grade 9-4, NVQ2 or equivalent) in Care and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 3 qualification on appointment to post Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
