About us

Part of London + Regional Hotels, The Lensbury Resort is located on the Banks of the River Thames at Teddington and is home to an exclusive leisure club, a 155 bedroom hotel, meeting and events space, restaurant and bar, Spa and 25 acres of gardens and grounds.

The Role

As a Sous Chef in our restaurant, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, maintain exceptional culinary standards, and deliver an outstanding dining experience to our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menus, ensuring that all dishes meet quality standards, taste profiles, and presentation guidelines.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff activities, including training, scheduling, and assigning tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to maintain consistency, portion control, and high-quality standards.
  • Cook and prepare high quality dishes.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items, taking into consideration seasonality, customer preferences, and culinary trends.
  • Participate in menu costing and budgeting activities, assisting in optimising food costs without compromising quality or guest satisfaction.

What we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications, attitude, behaviours, skills, and values:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, preferably within a similar style and size of restaurant.
  • Solid knowledge of various cooking techniques, cuisines, and trends.
  • Proficient in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and quality.
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • A passion for food, creativity, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
