University of Oxford, Department of Chemistry, 12 Mansfield Road, OX1 3TA About the role Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Inorganic Chemistry to work under the supervision of Professor Dermot O’Hare (P.I.) in collaboration with Professor Ludmilla Steier (Co-I), for a period of up to 24 months. The project involves the discovery of more efficient, selective and stable electrocatalysts for efficient oxygen evolution from water using nanomaterials and the construction and commissioning of a small prototype electrolyser to study long-term degradation mechanisms of these catalysts and determine catalyst regeneration strategies. Find out more about the O’Hare research group Find out more about the Steier research group About you Applicants must hold a PhD in Materials Chemistry or a related area, ( or be close to completion ) before taking up the appointment. The research requires expertise in the development of materials and electrode assemblies for electrocatalytic reactions, the optimisation of experimental setups and electrochemical cells, product quantification by gas chromatography and/or related techniques and modern material characterisation. Previous working experience developing skills in atomic layer deposition, PV-electrolysis systems, synthesis of layered materials or/and 3D-design would be advantageous. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small-scale project management to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines as well as a positive interaction with both groups. The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, working in both the Physical & Theoretical Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QZ and the Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford OX1 3TA and is available as soon as possible.
