Hello My name is Dawn and I am the OT professional leadwithin SWYPT and I am excited to share the opportunity for you join our Band 5Occupational therapy rotation within Barnsley. Barnsley is an attractive placeto live and work situated on the edge of the Peak District, with easy access tothe cities of Sheffield and Leeds.
Whether you are unsure whichfield of Occupational Therapy you want to work in or you just like variety thisreally could be the post for you.
Rotations not only allow you toexperience working a variety of clinical settings, but it also allows you totransfer and develop your clinical skills and knowledge within each area andoverall develop your Occupational therapy skills within a variety of settings.
Each rotation will be for 6 months in duration and therotations posts are available within:
Acute adult Mental Health.
Neighbourhoodrehabilitation Service (including long term conditions, D2A and intermediatecare).
Equipment and Adaptations.
Neurology Rehabilitation.
Stroke Rehabilitation.
Memory Team.
Childrens Therapy.
Learning Disabilities community team.
You will be working alongside skilled Occupationaltherapists who will provide support, regular supervision and a preceptorship packageis also available if required.
The trust supports learning and there will be a varietyof learning opportunities available to you throughout your rotations.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will rotate every 6 months to a new specialismwithin the rotation. You will be able to highlight your preferences to theservice of your choice and where possible this will be accommodated.
You willreceive supervision and support within each rotation and your appraisal will becompleted by the service you are in at that time.
You will work with services users within community, ward, clinic and ahome environment to provide holistic assessment and treatment. You will carry acaseload and prioritise your intervention.
You will adopt a client centred andsensitive approach to therapy, collaborating with clients (and/or carer(s)where appropriate) in all aspects of the occupational therapy process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for thispost. You will communicate accurate and sensitive information to clients andcarers using an appropriate and accessible medium, taking into considerationrelevant factors such as background, culture, gender, age and any physical,sensory or learning difficulties, adopting an empathic approach at all times.
You will work in line with HCPC standards and within the Trusts policiesand guidelines at all times.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To manage a designated caseload using evidence based/client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, withsupervision.
To participate, or work as a member of the multi disciplinary, multiagency team, contributing to decisions with regard to client care.
To maintain accurate and up to date patient records and activity data.
To work to the trusts/Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Councils policiesand procedures in accordance with professional standards.
To participate in regular supervision and performance developmentreview.
To be responsible for maintaining own continued professionaldevelopment, in line with trust policy.
To assist in the organisation of training and supervision of preregistration Occupational Therapy students who are on planned and regularplacements.
To participate in clinical governance and risk management activity, asapplicable in the workplace.
Any other duties relevant to the grade of the post.

Qualifications
Essential
Diploma/Degree Occupational Therapy. Current HPC Registration or to be registered within 3 months from closing date.
Experience
Desirable
Placement experience in a hospital setting that demonstrates essential core Occupational Therapy skills.

Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
