An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic well motivated individual to work within the sleep team. This is a rapidly growing service and we require an individual with the drive and ambition to move the service forward within the evolving field of sleep medicine, providing high standards of patient care in keeping with trust values.

Main duties of the job

The Senior physiologist / Healthcare Scientist works within the Sleep Physiology Service and in conjunction with the service lead and lead clinician to provide a specialist clinical services for the investigation and treatment of all sleep disorders', contributing to the development of a quality and cost effective service.

They will support the service lead and advise staff on professional issues and must maintain a clinical input and keep up-to-date with professional issues. They will also assist in the co-ordinating of sleep physiology education and lead their own area of the service.

A key role will be to provide diagnostic and treatment support for patients with obstructive sleep apnoea and duties would include analysis of home multi-channel sleep studies and more complex inpatient studies, performing new patient clinics to diagnosis patients and create treatment plans, initiating patients onto CPAP therapy and monitoring those on long term therapy in physiologist/nurse led clinics.

Essential

MSc in Clinical Physiology or BSc Clinical Physiology with equivalent experience or extensive experience Knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist/management courses or training/experience to advanced level highly complex polysomnography) ARTP/RCCP/HCPC or equivalant Teaching/Training certificate

ECNE Part 1/RPSGT credential
