Salary: From £42,886 (including £1,250 Essex Fringe Allowance) + Night Enhancements

Hours: 37.5hrs (following a shift pattern but with the ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the role)

This role forms part of a team that manages the hospital at night supporting a number of wards from across all divisions. The key role will add support to Divisional Leaders ensuring that the appropriate number of skilled staff are correctly deployed whilst also ensuring that Associate Directors of Nursing are supported in delivering high quality clinical care at night through your interventions, guidance and quality assurance at ward level.

About the role

You will be tasked with providing highly visible, operational and clinical leadership of our nursing teams across the site during the night. This will involve ensuring our nursing staff can optimise the patient experience by providing the support they need. You will provide guidance, facilitate practice and support staff as deemed necessary. The goal is to enhance engagement and minimise risk, so you will be making a key contribution to patient safety and welfare, assisting staff in dealing with any incidents promptly and professionally.

This is an influential role as you will be liaising closely with Associate Directors of Nursing, General Managers, Ward Managers and other multidisciplinary leaders on clinical, management and resource issues relating to the Divisions. This will also include providing guidance and monitoring the need to request assistance from the Duty Doctor.

About you

You need substantial experience of managing a large team at Deputy Ward Manager or Nurse Management level. You will be able to make sound clinical and operational decisions autonomously reporting back to Service Directors and Associate Directors of Nursing as required. You will have proven your ability to manage incidents calmly, effectively and with the appropriate levels of escalation. You will be committed to and be able to promote the St Andrews CARE values in all aspects of your work. Current NMC registration is essential.
