About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons across various humanities subjects, including History, Geography, Religious Education, or Social Studies, in line with the national curriculum.
  • Plan and prepare lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching strategies to promote student achievement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and explore humanities topics.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching resources and methods to enhance learning and maintain student engagement.
  • Foster critical thinking and analytical skills by encouraging students to explore different perspectives and engage in discussions about historical, geographical, and social issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the humanities department to share best practices, develop curriculum materials, and support department initiatives.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, trips, and school events that enrich the educational experience and deepen students' understanding of the humanities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, and communicate effectively with parents and carers as needed.
About You
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant humanities subject.
  • Experience teaching humanities subjects at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of curriculum requirements and assessment strategies.
  • Passionate about the humanities and committed to inspiring students to develop a love for the subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills, with the ability to create a supportive and focused learning environment.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to teaching, with a commitment to continuous professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
