JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a skilled CPE Architect, to join our Technology Platforms group, with experience in leading CPE software strategy and roadmaps for mass scale service provider Entertainment ecosystems.

In this role, you will:

Own, Develop and articulate LG’s CPE strategy internally and towards our key partners. Maintain relationships with our CPE OEMs , Silicon partners and related 3rd parties, keeping well-informed, and guiding their roadmaps to ensure that LG’s interest can be upheld Face into Industry bodies to influence developments and standardisation, including initiating and supervising activity with RDK to help align with LG’s overall strategy Lead the LG CPE Technical strategy working closely with LG Entertainment platform product owners Define video CPE requirements, define the SW architecture and supervise the development and integration activities driven by our hardware suppliers and our development partners to deliver new features Activities will mainly focus on software aspects of the STB but will also include hardware and the STB integration to the entertainment platform You will be part of a learning culture, where teamwork and collaboration are encouraged, excellence is rewarded, and diversity is respected and valued

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

You will play an important role in creating the architecture artifacts. Defining SW architecture and communicating this to SW development partners Translate business requirements into architectural framework and design. Liaising with internal partners to capture functional & non-functional, network and end-to-end requirements and incorporating them in SW architecture Reviewing and approving technical architecture and design from external vendors Where needed, support integration activities for new features and SW components as well as reviewing SW implementation to confirm it corresponds to approved designs Cooperation with external technology suppliers during development of STB software and hardware (SW vendors, HW vendors, CA vendors) In conjunction with product owner define hardware and software specifications for new video CPE Keeping track of industry trends and development and communicate this to peers and superiors Being the Liberty Global representative in technical working groups of relevant standards bodies, specifically RDK. Support technical discussions with major OTT application providers (e.g., Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video …) with regards to their integration into the LG entertainment platforms

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Extensive experience of making things work better with technology Proven track record to guide and craft employee experience using technology as a critical enabler Ability to be credible at all levels of the organization. Our partners and opinion formers are at every level of the organization and it is critical that we listen to them all Excellent English and good communicator, both written and spoken Proven experience simplifying enhancing service experiences for customers Expertise in design and development of RDK-V based STB software Good understanding of RMF (Rdk Media Framework) and GStreamer Good understanding of various IPCs like D-Bus, IARM etc Good understanding of Linux internals Good understanding of Yocto build system

DESIRABLE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Good interpersonal skills to maintain and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and development partners and suppliers Experience of technical project management or leading a distributed team in a SW development organization Willing and able to adapt rapidly to changing priorities and technologies Used to working under pressure with flexibility on working hours when needed Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role First-rate strategic perception and insight must be complemented by the problem solving skills necessary to drive tactical implementation Innovative and creative, able to bring new thinking to the organisation and our partners Able to spot market trends, opportunities and threats Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed in order to build strong, cooperative internal and external relationships across all levels and geographies Great listener able to understand the other persons perspectives and needs, enabling strong partnerships Strong written and oral communication necessary to evangelise with internal stakeholders and external partners and develop early stage strategic plans Highly self-motivated and objective driven individual continuously keeping the end goal in mind Capable of standing up for their values and objectives whilst selling or developing their ambitions Adaptable with the ability to successfully deal with and sort through ambiguity Organised and professional approach to work with enough flexibility to pivot when change is required

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong academics demonstrating intellectual curiosity and problem solving in complex environments Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject, educated to degree level in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications and/or have professional certification in a relevant area (E.g. RF Engineering; Mobile- Wi-Fi- Cable- Satellite- Telco- Communications; Consumer Electronics Engineering; …).

Or equivalent knowledge obtained through education and work experience:

Demonstrated ability with Linux based Embedded SW and real-time software for video CPE devices including both design and development Good understanding of video CPE hardware, CA/DRM and network architecture and design Experience from RDK is an advantage
