Job summary

This position is for an phlebotomist with at least 2 years experience. The successful candidate will have experience of working as an independent phlebotomist in a Primary or Secondary Care environment

Main duties of the job

a. Obtainingpatient consent for the collection of a blood sample

b. Perfomingvenepunture in accordance with practice protocols

c. Maintainingaccurate patient records on EMIS Web

d. Thecorrect labelling, packaging and storing of samples

e. Effectiveuse of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies

f. Ensuringsamples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner

g. Maintainingan effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Shropshire and Telford Hospitals(SaTH)

h. Workingcollaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary forpatient related matters

i. Coverfor phlebotomy colleagues absence

We have recently taken over another practice and the successful candidate may be required to work cross sites.
