Opcare have been providing the orthotic service in Birmingham since 2023, this role is an excellent opportunity to have a key influence within the service to advance and improve the delivery of service.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Orthotist to join our two sites at the Birmingham Childrens Hospital and Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Across both sites we provide inpatient and outpatient orthotics care. The Childrens Hospital also provide regular clinics in specialist schools in the area. There is a growing mix of MDTs which provides a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads.

Across the area you will work with inpatients and outpatients, treating an extensive range of conditions including stroke, scoliosis, neuromuscular conditions, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, OI, CTEV, OA, spinal trauma, oncology, poliomyelitis, lower limb musculoskeletal complaints and common foot pathologies. This is a highly rewarding role, where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a clinically challenging environment.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working with a complex clinical case load, it will present exciting opportunities to develop clinical and leadership skillsets. The role will be instrumental in working with the orthotic team, consisting of clinicians and wider NHS MDT to advance and improve the delivery of the service.

Increasing list of MDTs including, but not limited to:

Inpatient BASIS study/Scoliosis Spinal Bifida Foot and ankle Theatre casts and removal Community school clinics OI

Responsibilities

Ensure delivery of high-quality care for allpatients and smooth running of the service Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams(MDTs) Inputting/leading on initiatives within thecentre service development plan Mentoring and supervision of undergraduates andgraduates. Opportunity to work closely with manufacturingteams in Bradford, Sheffield and Birmingham

This role provides opportunity for an ambitious clinician, looking for a challenge and provide opportunities to developclinically across a range of practice areas. The role will be instrumental in developing and implementing service improvements for the betterment ofpatients in Birmingham.

The successful candidate will join anenthusiastic and busy team, and be supported with local, regional and nationaltraining to develop their clinical skills to support the service. We aim todeliver a first class service for users whilst applying the most advanced andexciting clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

To advance thedelivery of the Opcare orthotic service by embracing evidence-based medicineand the result of Clinical audit in line with the requirements of clinicalgovernance.

Either:

CertifiedOrthotist

HND Orthotics

BSc Orthotics

Must also be fullyHCPC Registered.

Must hold a full,valid driving licence.
