We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Stroke and Neurology to join our Neurological Outpatient Therapy Service in Amber Valley and Erewash.

This opportunity would be suitable for Band 6 or experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapists.

You will be joining a friendly team that has a strong emphasis on high quality evidence-based care, interdisciplinary teamwork and staff well-being. The team is comprised of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Technical Instructors, Neurology Nurse Specialist and Admin Support.

We will provide you with a supportive environment to develop your clinical skills and rehabilitation experience. Alongside regular caseload supervision and the option of joint sessions with experienced therapy staff; we offer a robust structure of CPD and peer supervision.

We are also highly supportive of initiative and service development, both within the local team and across our wider Stroke and Neurology Specialist Services. If you are keen for professional progression and personal development, this could be the job for you.

Working hours Mon-Fri, pattern to be negotiated.

We provide clinical services in outpatient settings at Ilkeston Hospital, Ripley Hospital and Long Eaton Health Centre.

This post will be based at Ilkeston Community Hospital.

As a Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist working within our service you will:

Undertake specialised, detailed, complex and accurate assessments of patients with neurological pathology and identify and carry out appropriate OT interventions. Actively participate in multi-disciplinary treatment planning and goal setting to facilitate collaborative care and a high quality service.

To provide highly specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for adults with physical rehabilitation needs presenting with a variety of neurological conditions both acute and progressive. At times and / or in special circumstances you may be asked to work in a different service area g. sickness, annual leave, bank holidays, service redesign. To work as a member of the multi disciplinary team, working closely with fellow therapists and nursing teams. To educate and train other members of the therapy team, students and carers. To participate in the development of effective, responsive, evidence based and patient centred services. To assist on specific projects in agreement with the Team Lead and Clinical Lead for the Service. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

BSc/ Diploma in OT and HCPC registered Evidence of stroke/neuro specific CPD Car driver with access to vehicle or ability to travel between between bases

Desirable

Member of Neuro Special Interest Group Post graduate training in stroke/neurology (qualification)

Experience

Essential

Previous, relevant postgraduate experience Previous, relevant experience in Neurological Rehabilitation Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

Practice Placement Supervisor Experience of working in an outpatient/community setting

Skills

Essential

Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Delegation and support of therapy support workers
