Seasonal AssistantEcologists are currently needed to undertake both survey work andsitebased work at various sites across the Midlands and furtherafield. Survey work will mostly comprise protected species surveys(newts bats etc) newt and reptile translocation work andpotentially habitat creation works. Whilst predominantly fieldbased there may also be some opportunity to assist in officebasedwork including logging and mapping field data with the data youcollect being used to inform ecological impact assessments andmitigation measures across a range ofprojects.

Survey work will oftenrequire working away from home including daytime and night and/orearly morning work. We offer flexible hours so that you are able tofit working with us around other commitments but we do requireavailability for at least two evening surveys (M/T/W/Th) and thefollowing morning each week. It is not essential that you are ableto commit to the full survey season.

A can doenthusiastic and motivated attitude is essential as is a keeninterest in ecology and conservation as work can be in remotelocations sometimes during poor weather and regularly out of normalhours. The ability to communicate well and work effectively as partof a team is vital and youll be organised and able to manage yourtime well to ensure surveys run smoothly.

You mayalready have experience of undertaking UK habitat and/or protectedspecies surveys a good understanding of British native specieswildlife legislation and planning policy relating to ecology.Reliable and accurate recording of field data on both paper anddigital devices to a consistent and high standard is necessary andgood written skills will be an advantage. You may also beproficient with software such as QGIS

You arelikely to have or be working towards a qualification in anenvironmental subject and may be a member of CIEEM (from graduateto full membership).

Full on the job training isprovided.

A full driving licence andaccess to a vehicle is necessary and you must have or beprepared to add Business Use to your car insurance policy. Existingexperience and a current CSCS card is desirable for sitebased workbut not essential.
