The service you will work in….

The Harrow Cove is a community based crisis alternative service, provided by Hestia on behalf of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. We offer non-clinical support to individuals experiencing a crisis or mental distress and urgent appointments to make sure each person gets dedicated time and support. Our service opening times are: Monday to Sunday, 14:00 – 22:00, including weekends.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Pool Workerat Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex NeedsService. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

To provide quality support and interventions to people experiencing or likely to experience a mental health crisis, as an alternative to using statutory crisis services.  To carry out individual one to one sessions with service users and, where appropriate, to support them to develop their own wellness, recovery action plan and safety plans.  To maintain accurate records of service user visits, support and interventions provided and any outcomes.  To signpost and refer to other appropriate local services to meet service user needs. Develop good working relationships with external stakeholders. Assist Service User on their journey to recovery by developing and leading well-being sessions and groups. To assist in the promotion and development of the service.

Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches.  Good IT skills, that includes a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook and the internet.  Good literacy and numeracy skills and able to produce clear written correspondence in hard copy or email.  Ability to complete and record basic financial transactions, . managing petty cash.  Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.  Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to oversee induction of new peer staff and volunteers.  Awareness of health and safety issues.  Ability to work at evenings, weekends and bank holidays.  Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation, in particular Care Program Approach (CPA) processes.
