Theopportunity

Were currently lookingfor a Cost Reduction Lead. Someone to join our SoftwareArchitecture & SaaS team in order to optimise the coststructure of Polestars current and future vehicle softwarearchitecture as well as current and future SaaS within Softwaredomain. This role will focus on reducing both commercial and billof material (BoM) costs while upholding or enhancing the qualityand performance of our vehicles and services

Thisposition can be located in either Coventry UK or GothenburgSweden.


TheResponsibilities

In this role youwill collaborate crossfunctionally and crossplatform to identifycostsaving opportunities and implement cost reduction strategieswithin different areas of the Software domain and Polestarportfolio. The cost reduction lead will also collaborate with amatched pair in partner organisations to find shared opportunitiesthat can be realised across different brands within the widergroup.

The successful candidate shall lead inmonitoring reporting and taking action to ensure progress onprojects within Software domain areas through internal meetings andmatched pair partner meetings.

This role shallinvolve overall portfolio management detailed risk assessments ofinitiatives and leading escalations to the Product Cost Management(PCM) leadership team if deviations or support is needed. Thesuccessful candidate shall ensure quality and transparency throughtechnical documentation in the PCM systems and tools according tothe formal PCM process in Polestar.

SW coreengineers shall support the successful candidate with technicalassessments TARR (time adjusted rate of return) calculations andsupporting the maturity of identified costpotentials.

Cost Analysis andReduction

  • Conduct thorough analyses ofcurrent vehicle & SaaS costs identifying opportunities forcost reduction in both commercial and BOMaspects
  • Develop implement and overseecostsaving initiatives without compromising vehicle and servicesquality andperformance

CrossFunctionalCollaboration

  • Work closely withengineering procurement finance and manufacturing teams to identifyand execute cost reduction projects forPolestar
  • Participate in design business andengineering reviews to ensure cost efficiency is considered in thedesign and development of new vehicle models across functionaldomains
  • Coordinate with the supply chain teamto evaluate and select costeffective materials and components fornew vehicles and model yearchanges

Supplier and PartnerManagement

  • Evaluation of existing andpotential suppliers for costsavingopportunities
  • Establish strong relationshipswith the shared platform providers to facilitate effectivenegotiation and collaboration
  • Monitor supplierperformance and address any costrelated issuespromptly
  • Lead and manage CBSRs (cross brandservice requests) whereappropriate

ContinuousImprovement

  • Implement and promote aculture of continuous improvement within theorganization
  • Utilise lean principles and othercost reduction methodologies to drive efficiency in the functionarea

Data Analysis andReporting

  • Conduct detailed costanalysis and prepare comprehensive reports on cost reductionactivities and outcomes
  • Track key performanceindicators (KPIs) related to cost savings and present findings tosenior management
  • Provide datadrivenrecommendations for further costoptimization


TheIdeal candidate

In order tosucceed in this role and at Polestar in general there are a fewcharacteristics youll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility.Curiosity. The ability to take the initiative to meet deadlines andrequirements and to abandon ideas when theyre notfeasible.

We are seeking someone with a provenability to interpret complex data and identify costsavingopportunities through strong analytical skills. The ideal candidatewill possess excellent negotiation skills and extensive experiencein supplier management enabling effective collaboration andvaluedriven partnerships.

Success in this rolerequires the ability to work effectively within a crossfunctionalteam environment having strong communication and presentationskills to convey complex information clearly is alsoimportant.

In addition youll need the followingqualifications/experience:

  • Bachelorsdegree in Engineering Finance Supply Chain Management or a relatedfield. A Masters degree is a plus.
  • Provenexperience in cost reduction cost analysis or a related role withinthe automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Proventrackrecord of automotive electrical system and architectureleading roles.
  • Comfortable with common conceptswithin automotive embedded development; ISO 21434 ISO 26262SOTIF...
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturingprinciples and other cost reductionmethodologies
  • Proficiency in relevant softwaretools (e.g. MS Office Suite JIRAConfluence)
