FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in Sheffield to work for our client within the Financial Services sector.


The Senior DevOps Engineer will have a strong focus on CI/CD, automation, and cloud technologies. You will enable automated infrastructure delivery and assist in the development of the strategic technical architecture. This role will drive and support the DevOps initiatives across the organisation, providing analysis and solutions to technical and business issues.


Responsibilities

  • DevOps expert, who can manage and drive the team towards CI /CD integration and implementation.
  • Understand and apply technology and corporate vision setting direction on implementation.
  • Maintain awareness of business and technology strategies and implements technical alternatives and strategies to gain competitive advantage.
  • Work with architecture team and application team and participate analysis of the POL project requirement.
  • Should be able to Lead wider architecture discussions.
  • Provides technical solutions to business problems, technical leadership, and direction to management.
  • Remain current on technical and professional advances and business strategies regarding area of responsibility.
  • Serve as expert in area of responsibility, identifies process improvements and problem prevention, and advises department and management of relevant information as appropriate.
  • Resolve architectural or development blockers raised.
  • Provide technical leadership and consultation to project team members as directed by the project manager.
  • Provide direct guidance in planning, designing, programming, documentation, and implementation of the systems.
  • Perform reviews of new and existing systems to ensure operational integrity and accomplishment of stated objectives.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document programs as required.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture and senior management to define cloud strategy and perform PoC on new technologies.
  • Provide architecture guidance to developers based on best practices and in alignment with global standards.


Requirements

  • Over 10+ years of experience in DevOps with a strong focus on CI/CD, automation, and cloud technologies
  • Hands on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Working experience with Kafka, including commitment to the Kafka open-source project.
  • Solid knowledge on infrastructure like Linux OS, networking, storage, load-balancer, etc.
  • Expertise in docker, k8s, service mesh
  • Experience in SCM tools like Github, Bitbucket and tracking tools like Jira
  • Solid knowledge of Java, REST, APIs
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet or Chef)
  • Experience in Build tools, Maven, Gradle
  • Experience and expertise on Package management tool, preferably Helm
  • Expertise in monitoring and observability technologies like Prometheus, Appdynamics, Splunk, Jaeger, Kiali, Open Telemetry.
  • Proficiency in managing multi cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Expertise in VPC design and firewall management, iAM, cloud costing
  • Experience in the financial industry will be an added advantage.
