Contract Length: 15 months

Direct reports: N/A

Working hours: 40 hours per week, 3-4 days in London, 1-2 days from home.

Salary: £26-28K

Location: Central London


Purpose of the Role

  • To be help deliver our food and drink strategy, by supporting the Food & Drink Development Manager to ensure our menu proposition exceeds that of direct competitors in terms of innovation and quality.
  • Assist the Food & Drink Development Manager in developing the brand’s menu innovation, demonstrating a true understanding of the customer, the company, the competition, training requirements and the kitchen operations.
  • Help deliver the development of food innovation across not only London stores, but the multi-channel representations of the brand within all franchises > Sainsburys retail range, nationwide dark kitchens & motorway service outlets.
  • To manage the accurate data input into key systems across the business – allergen & recipe building tools, stock management etc.
  • To collaborate with cross-functions; marketing, operations, L&D, and finance to deliver key menu launches.


Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Food Development Manager to innovate & develop for new menu launches and seasonal specials, which deliver on the food & drink strategy and respond to current customer, trend and competitor positions.
  • Help deliver the brand food vision across all stores and other channels through cross-functional collaboration with marketing, operations, and training.
  • Creatively identifying new categories and opportunities in the product range through product research & always-on trend sourcing via various sources including social e.g. Tik Tok.
  • Support with the running of food shows for the Senior leadership team to propose new products that are commercially and operationally sound for new menu launches.
  • Liase with key suppliers on new sample requests.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to deliver timely, accurate and successful menu launch campaigns, including attending all photoshoots to organise the food.
  • Support on packaging with external supplier. Help by managing sample library, testing new packaging samples and facilitating re-orders, while keeping cost-saving initiatives and the Azzurri ESG strategy for packaging and recycling in mind.
  • Key food contact for customer queries. Develop action plans against customer experience feedback on food quality to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Develop strong relationships with store operators and key stakeholders within franchise businesses to ensure menu development wins the hearts and minds of all staff. Involves; collaborate with the training team to develop accurate and timely process cards and generating ‘launch packs’ that encapsulates all key information for teams for menu launches.
  • Manage input process of supplier information to customer information output. Involves using our in-house recipe management system with 100% accuracy and liaising with suppliers on product information input.
  • Management of the product & recipe input of the stock system, ensuring recipes and prices are accurate for accurate commercial/wastage data.
  • Owner for sample and development kitchen management – space is tight and within one of the stores, so an organised and diligent approach here is needed.


Experience

  • Ideally 1 year experience in a hospitality business.
  • Degree educated or equivalent experience, preferably related to food.
  • Working in a fast-paced customer-facing environment
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • Enthusiasm for in injecting new ideas.
  • Understanding and responding to customer needs
  • A real passion for food, drink, coffee, and Italy.
