Role Overview

Due to the expansion of Touchlight’s business and the Analytical Development department, we are recruiting a new Analytical Development Scientist (12m).


They will play a pivotal role in testing the performance on analytical assays. Their primary responsibilities will include supporting the hands-on performance of both routine testing and characterisation testing of Touchlight products.


Key responsibilities include:


We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who excels at performing accurate analyses on multiple samples, ensuring precision from the first attempt. The AD Scientist will be part of a small, dedicated team responsible for testing company and client samples with quick turnaround times. A comprehensive understanding of the analytics performed is essential, as you will engage with clients to discuss their results and support the head of the department.


Main responsibilities include:


  • Testing the performance of analytical assays (QPCR, UPLC, HPLC, NGS, Enzyme activity)
  • Report writing
  • Reagent stock management



Skills and Experience Required


  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant life science field, demonstrating a solid foundation in scientific principles.
  • Proven ability to conduct precise and accurate analytical testing
  • Familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques and data analysis is preferred
  • Knowledge of QPCR, UPLC and HPLC is preferred
  • Understanding and application of enzyme assay techniques a strong plus
  • Strong understanding of Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
  • Strong communication skills to effectively document findings and engage with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working within life- science manufacturing sector is desirable but not essential.
