About the Role:


Are you a dedicated and passionate Childcare Lawyer looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families? We are seeking an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in the local authority. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary and the flexibility of hybrid working.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in all aspects of childcare law, including care proceedings, adoption, and safeguarding matters.
  • Manage a caseload of complex childcare cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including applications, orders, and care plans.
  • Represent the local authority in court, advocating for the best interests of children and families.
  • Collaborate closely with social workers, senior management, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and legal precedents affecting childcare law.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the department.


Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in childcare law.
  • Strong understanding of public law and the legal framework governing child protection.
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and demanding caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working within a local authority setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and improving the lives of vulnerable children.
