We are seeking an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in the local authority. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary and the flexibility of hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and representation in all aspects of childcare law, including care proceedings, adoption, and safeguarding matters.
- Manage a caseload of complex childcare cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including applications, orders, and care plans.
- Represent the local authority in court, advocating for the best interests of children and families.
- Collaborate closely with social workers, senior management, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and legal precedents affecting childcare law.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within the department.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in childcare law.
- Strong understanding of public law and the legal framework governing child protection.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse and demanding caseload with minimal supervision.
- Experience working within a local authority setting is desirable but not essential.
