Job Description


We are looking for an experienced senior data analyst who will report to the Global Head of Algos / Electronic Trading Risk. This individual will be proficient in working with complex data sets with a keen eye to spot trends and issues and have direct experience working in the algorithmic trading/ risk domain. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, algos trading/ risk management domain expertise, and strong project management / communication skills to drive the discussions and implementation with cross functional partners.


Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Write SQL queries to extract, transform, analyze data from various databases in different languages.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of existing reporting and data sources to identify, discuss, and deeply understand and surface issues, trends, and underlying root causes.
  • Drive the work across the Business, Technology, Quantitative Strategies, Supervisory, and other control groups to implement data corrections, process improvements, and automated solutions to ensure ongoing integrity of the data and associated reporting going forward.
  • Conduct data discovery sessions with diverse technical groups to analyze the structure, quality, and content of existing data sources for their reliability, completeness, and usability.
  • Design and implement robust data schemas that align with our data needs and enables efficient reconciliation, storage, retrieval, reporting, calibrations, and analysis.
  • Partner with Risk Ops, Quantitative Strategies, Technology, Trading, Business, Engineering teams to scope, define, phase, and implement a comprehensive, scalable data solution that can be easily extensible to other asset classes, products, and regions.
  • Design and implement a tactical build to prototype the future state and provide an interim solution: 1) Preferably utilizing Python or SQLite to create a scalable and efficient minimum viable product. 2) Develop data structures that can be easily adaptable for future enhancements. 3) Create a flexible database schema that can accommodate various data types and reconciliation rules.
  • Develop and maintain data quality control processes for reconciliation, issue identification, and issue management to ensure ongoing integrity of the data and reports consumed and generated.
  • Develop and productionize robust MI reporting to facilitate deeper insights and more efficient algo trading risk management decision making process.


Qualifications/ Experience

  • Minimum of graduate degree in STEM
  • At least 2 years work experience within Algo/ eTrading area
  • Good grasp of traded financial products, markets, market structures
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to spot subtle discrepancies as well as identify trends in complex datasets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in Excel, SQL, Python
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong team player
  • Desire to learn, process improve, and add value


Preferred location: NY but will consider strong candidates in other regions
