Job Description:

Aquent is working with our video game software development client as they look for a talented UX Graphic Designer with experience creating beautiful and intuitive user interfaces and experiences for games. This role involves joining a project in development and working all the way to release, collaborating closely with Designers to understand game mechanics, player motivations and goals, and working with the Art Director for guidance on style and tone. You will be passionate about making the player experience smooth, efficient and enjoyable as they play through the game, designing and creating stunning interfaces.


This is a 1-month contract with the possibility of extension and comes with a gross PAYE rate of up to £250 per day, equivalent to up to £65,000 per annum. You will also be able to accrue up to 38 days of holiday per annum, pro rata, inclusive of 8 bank holidays.


With offices based in Stratford-upon-Avon, you’ll find the team in a set of converted farm buildings, surrounded by sheep and tractors, where the environment is informal, relaxed, and inclusive. Their hybrid working policy will require you to work onsite every Monday and Tuesday, with the remaining days working remotely from home. There is also the option to work fully remote, provided you are based in the UK.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the design process for user interfaces, from concept to implementation, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive experience from opening title to closing credits
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts
  • Collaborate with Game Designers, Art Director and Production staff to understand game mechanics, visual style and direction
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure a seamless integration of UX design and assets into the games


What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in Graphic Design in a games environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale
  • Expert proficiency with industry-standard visual art software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, InVision)
  • A passion for high-quality user experiences with a deep understanding of game mechanics and player motivations


You might also have:

  • Experience in developing games or game prototypes in Unity
  • Experience in console development
