As an assistant solicitor, you will be integral to the legal team, responsible for investigating evidence, identifying key witnesses, and collaborating with other team members. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an important national public inquiry, gaining significant legal experience and exposure.


Key Responsibilities Of The Assistant Solicitor Role:

  • Drafting key Inquiry documents, including Rule 8 requests for evidence.
  • Reviewing and analysing recovered evidence, producing summaries and reports on relevance to the Inquiry's Terms of Reference.
  • Taking statements from witnesses and managing statement takers.
  • Overseeing the redaction and disclosure of evidence.
  • Instructing and liaising with Counsel.
  • Providing legal advice to the Chair of the Inquiry as required.
  • Liaising with solicitors representing core participants.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Inquiry's procedures and protocols.
  • Managing GDPR compliance within the team.


Essential Requirements The Assistant Solicitor Role:

  • Must be Scottish qualified Solicitor, on the role with Law Society of Scotland.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in handling high volumes of documents requiring rigorous legal analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all members of the Inquiry team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across various tasks in a small, dynamic team.


Offer:

  • Day rate: £297.15 (Ltd)
  • Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of a 12-month extension.
