Rontec is seeking a Project Assistant to assist with the planning and execution of projects within its network of petrol filling stations. This multifaceted role encompasses a variety of projects, including the enhancement & redevelopment of existing petrol stations, new construction, and mixed-use schemes.


The Project Assistant will be involved in all aspects of assisting the project team from planning and design to project completion, with some key activities being:

  • Liaison with project managers, architects, and designers
  • Understanding of civil & electrical practices
  • Health, safety & environmental awareness
  • Contract management, including some on-site attendance.
  • Cost management
  • Project coordination
  • Management of third-party suppliers and contractors

The role involves the coordination of national programmes, necessitating consistent updates to colleagues and managers on project progress, budget adherence, and quality standards.

This is an office-based position, however, depending on projects some field work will be required (site visit, supplier meetings, etc).


KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Project assistance: work closely with the project team to assist with technical and project management requirements.
  • Coordination of Resources: Both internal and external third-party suppliers/contractors to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • On-Time Delivery: Ensuring all projects are delivered within designated timelines, adhering to predefined scopes.
  • Scope Development: Assist and review with development of project scopes, programs, and objectives, and validating technical feasibility.
  • Project Planning: Formulate detailed project plans, such as timelines, resource requirements, and budget estimates.
  • Change Management: Skillfully manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs to ensure projects remain on track.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Reporting to Head of Property Services: Maintain regular communication to provide updates on project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Supplier and Consultant Management: Responsible for the management of suppliers and consultants, overseeing their adherence to legislative requirements and the company's plans.
  • Effective Project Management: Ensure that all projects are managed effectively, meticulously overseeing all phases of project delivery. Projects must be completed on time, within budget, and in strict accordance with the quality standards.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A degree or equivalent in construction, science or engineering related subject.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills required.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
