London, UK, United Kingdom Triple Point Full time

Role Summary

The Triple Point Energy team manages a number of pools of capital, all with a mandate to accelerate the transition to Net Zero. The funds we manage are invested into both debt and equity investments.

Following rapid growth in our lending activities we are looking for a portfolio manager to come on board to help oversee our loan investments in the Energy Transition. This is a newly created role created as a function of our growth, and as such we are looking for someone who can both help shape our approach to loan portfolio management as well as manage a portfolio of loans. The role would provide significant scope for career development and have one direct report.

Getting to Net Zero is going to require a new type of lender, with the mainstream banking sector slow to adapt to the new business models that are emerging as part of the energy transition. Non bank lenders, such as Triple Point, are well placed to provide the capital required to get to Net Zero, in areas such as Battery Energy Storage, and development stage lending.

Triple Point manages over £1bn of lending assets across a range of economic sectors, and is well known throughout the market for a being a leading lender to UK businesses.

The combination of leveraging nearly 20 years of lending track record, combined with the fast growing opportunities in the Energy Transition sector, make this a compelling role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make commercial decisions and recommendations with respect to lending facilities
  • Proactively contribute to improving loan monitoring processes
  • Prepare and deliver regular portfolio monitoring reports
  • Conduct financial analysis of assets
  • Oversee the handover of loan transactions from deal teams to portfolio function
  • Track loan compliance ensuring that the lending portfolio is monitored in line with terms of funding and Group policy
  • Review and approve, where necessary, requests (e.g. waiver letters) from borrowers, including obtaining the adequate internal approvals required for approving such requests on a timely manner
  • Work with deal leads to update, extend or restructure existing loans where necessary
  • Oversee and manage a portfolio associate in the team

Knowledge and Experience

It is anticipated that you will have the following;

  • 4-6 years of experience of managing a portfolio of loans in an active lending organization (middle office)
  • Experience of managing investment or loans in the Energy Transition sector including construction stage assets
  • Understanding of loan documentation
  • Strong financial modeling and Microsoft Excel skills

Qualities and Competencies

  • Flexible attitude and willingness to evolve with the business
  • Highly numerate with strong academics
  • Proactive and highly motivated
  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal with people at all levels
  • Organised, ability to multi-task and prioritise a varied workload
  • Team player
  • Work independently and as part of the team as and when required
  • Keen to learn
  • Integrity and honesty
  • Strong time management skills
