Job Title: Assistant / Quantity Surveyor

Location: Head Office - Rawson Spring Way, S6 1PG, Sheffield

Job Type: Permanent, Monday to Thursday 9am – 5pm & Friday 9am – 4pm.

Salary: DOE + Travel expenses


The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent communication and organisation skills, and an exceptional attention to detail. You will be expected to administer all commercial aspects of our projects, ensuring focus is maintained on profitable delivery of contracts, maximising all financial opportunities, whilst ensuring risks are kept to a minimum.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out site visits and collating all necessary information for valuation purposes.
  • Produce, submit, and agree monthly Applications for Payment to the Client, in accordance with the provisions of the contract.
  • Manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Change Order Requests.
  • Review planned/actual progress on site and where necessary issue EOT requests at the earliest opportunity.
  • Assisting with the production of Sub-Contract documentation, including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
  • Management of Sub-Contract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
  • Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Sub-Contractors, as required by the form of contract – primarily amended JCT D&B.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports that analyse and demonstrate the profitability and commercial progress of a project.
  • To assist in pricing and tendering as and when required.


Desired experience and attributes:

  • At least 1 year of experience working as an Assistant/Quantity Surveyor and a construction related qualification or similar would be advantageous.
  • A basic understanding of contract document preparation, contract management processes and procedures.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office products; particularly Word, Excel & Project.
