If so, Bidwells seeks a talented and experienced Senior Operations Engineer (Systems/Applications) to lead and enhance our IT Systems/Applications landscape. Our successful hire will play a key role in shaping our future IT architecture while managing and developing a member of our IT Operations team.
In this pivotal role, you will support our ongoing transformation journey, working on both business-as-usual and project-based tasks. Your key tasks will involve planning, scheduling, and implementing change requests and maintenance activities for the team, as well as ongoing root cause analysis and dealing with escalated incidents.
This role is based in our Perth office with the option of agile working. Due to the nature of the work, you will be expected to occasionally visit regional offices. It may be necessary to work extra hours to finish a job or undertake out-of-hours maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership:
- Manage and mentor one IT Operations team member, overseeing their performance and development.
- Serve as the Systems expert within the IT Operations Team.
- Collaborate with the Solutions Architect to develop "As-Is" and "To-Be" Architecture Documents.
- Support the delivery of the Target Architecture through Technical Design Authority participation.
- Plan and execute project work, including design and service improvement initiatives.
- Coach and upskill other IT Operations and Service Delivery team members.
- IT Estate Management:
- Oversee all aspects of Systems Operations across multiple sites.
- Ensure robust patch management systems.
- Perform systems administration for Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, Intune, Exchange, SCCM, HubSpot, MRI Suite, and Citrix.
- Administer, renew, and upgrade systems following industry and security standards, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001.
- Test and onboard new systems and applications.
- Identify risks and create mitigation plans for the IT risk register.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support through Incident, Change, and Problem Management procedures.
- Collaborate with the Service Delivery Team to support escalated tickets.
- Work with the Information Security Team to ensure secure and protected infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot system/application issues to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
About you:
Essential:
- Proven experience in delivering improvement projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016-2022 and data/database management.
- Confident in diagnosing and rectifying faults within established SLAs.
- Experience with scripting and automation.
- Ability to operate in a change control and configuration management environment.
- Ability to act as the technical escalation point for incidents.
- Experience in supporting, implementing, and maintaining Business Applications.
- Familiarity with the software delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution development, user testing, and post-go-live support.
- Effective delegation and time management skills.
- Ability to translate business/operational requirements into efficient solutions.
Desired:
- Experience with software deployment via SCCM or Intune.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, SQL, and Exchange.
- Experience with Microsoft Cloud services, including Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Azure Cloud Services, Intune, and Defender.
- Experience with HubSpot, the MRI suite, ServiceNow, and GIS systems.
- Experience in Shared Services or Commercial IT Services operations.
- Skills in configuring and maintaining monitoring tools and systems.
- Experience with Citrix management, maintenance, and implementation.
- Relevant technical certifications.
- Experience with second-line technical support processes.
- People management experience.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
